RAWALPINDI– In a major development, the hearing on the bail petitions of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice-Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Awami Muslim League (AML) Chief Sheikh Rasheed have been adjourned without any proceedings.

The Anti-Terrorism Court (AT) in Rawalpindi adjourned until January 24 the bail applications from the three political figures concerning 12 cases related to the May 9 incident as Judge Malik Ijaz Asif was on leave.

In response to this development, all the police investigative teams and prosecutors from various police stations have been instructed to appear again on the next date of hearing.

All three leaders through their counsels had said that the cases against them were nothing but politically motivated as they had nothing to do with May 9 riots.

Sheikh Rasheed who was arrested again in another case of May 9 riots is contesting elections from Rawalpindi while two others Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi are out of the election race so far.
