KARACHI – A case has been registered against leading property tycoon Malik Riaz Hussain, his son Ali Malik for allegedly submitting bogus cheques of over Rs182 million to Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA).
A report shared in a leading English daily said Mr Malik made the payment to get a provisional no-objection certificate (NOC) from the Sindh Building Control Authority SBCA as they planned to advertise their Bahria Town Karachi project.
The case registered under FIR number 681/2023 accused the owner of country’s leading property tycoon of concealing, and depositing dishonored cheques while getting provisional NOC from the authority.
It was learnt that the case has been registered under a section related to dishonestly issuing a cheque, cheating, abetment, and common intention.
The case was filed by SBCA deputy director Zaheer Husain Qureshi who, in his written complaint, accused Malik Riaz and his son Ali Riaz Malik of submitting five post-dated cheques but three of the cheques had bounced.
SBCA thus took legal action in accordance with the law. Furthermore, the Building Control Authority also stopped Bahria Town Karachi from advertising and selling any property.
Previously, a show-cause notice was issued for the payment issue.
