LAHORE – Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari on Monday announced the arrival of Pakistan’s first air ambulance plane, pointing out its unique ability to land in compact spaces without requiring a traditional runway.
“This essential service would be provided to the public free of charge,” said Azma Bokhari while addressing a press conference at the Directorate General Public Relations in Lahore on Monday (today).
Azma outlined plans to deploy three air ambulances and two helicopters for rescue operations, with ongoing training underway.
She made it clear that any barriers to public relief efforts would be swiftly dealt with.
Azma also pointed out the historical talk surrounding Air Ambulance initiatives by various governments, noting the lack of action until now.
“However, within just a month and a half of Maryam Nawaz assuming the Chief Minister role, significant progress has been made,” said the minister.
While discussing the reduction in the prices of naan and roti, Azma stated that the initiative for affordable roti was initially championed by Shehbaz Sharif.
“Now, under Maryam Nawaz’s leadership, further reductions have been announced after thorough consideration. The goal is to ensure that consumers purchasing these staples from the market also benefit,” she added.
Bokhari disclosed a reduction of Rs500 in the price of a 20 kg bag of flour, with assurances of further decreases in the days ahead. She warned against any interference by mafias hindering relief efforts for the people.
She also rejected the stance of the Nanbai Association and made an appeal to them for cooperation, stressing that the government seeks an equitable solution and will not tolerate any impediments to public relief efforts.
“The price of 100 grams of roti has been set at Rs16, with naan available for Rs20,” she added,
