Austria’s Interior Minis-ter Karl Nehammer said Friday that his ruling conservative party had named him the country’s new chancellor.

“I wanted to announce that today I was unanimously appointed by the OeVP (People’s Party) lead-ership as party head and at the same time as the chancellor can-didate,” Nehammer told report-ers.—APP
