Aslam chairs meeting to approve flood affectees’ rehabilitation plan

A meeting was held under the chair of Senior Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal at 90-SQA to approve the rehabilitation plan for the flood victims of Punjab.

Flood-affected canals, distributaries and water courses will be repaired on an emergency basis while roads and infrastructure from farms to markets will be restored on a priority basis. Financial assistance will also be provided to the victims by estimating the flood-affected crops and other damages.

Addressing the meeting, Senior Minister Aslam Iqbal said that the priorities for the rehabilitation of the flood victims have been decided. The winter season is coming and the flood victims sitting under the open sky should be protected.

He said that the officers and officials who are doing the best work in the relief and rescue operations will be encouraged. The senior minister said that the flood victims will be paid easily through Punjab Bank and other partner banks.

Similarly, he added that the provision of medical facilities to pregnant women in flood-affected areas should be taken seriously.

Finance Minister Mohsin Leghari said that the government stands with the flood victims, no effort will be spared for their rehabilitation. DG PDMA said that the ongoing survey will be completed by September 27.

Provincial Minister Hasnain Bahadur Dreshk, assembly members Hashim Jawan Bakht, Javed Akhtar, Makhdoom Raza Hussain Bukhari, Moazam Ali Khan Jatoi and others attended the meeting. SMBR, administrative secretaries and others also attended the meeting.
