In the face of evolving contests and uncertainties in the region, the role played by COAS Gen Bajwa to tackle the rising challenges remained exemplary in managing the hardcore professional tasks as well as helping Pakistan navigate choppy waters during the last six years.

Pakistan Army under the command of General Bajwa played a crucial role in strengthening Pakistan’s ties with countries across the globe through military diplomacy and played a monumen¬tal role in convincing Saudi Arabia and China to rollover of their loans.

Under his leadership, Karkey Kara¬deniz Electrik Uterim (a Turkish company) dispute settlement was one of the ex¬amples of Pakistan Army ef¬forts for the economic wel¬fare of the country A Turkish company namely Karkey Karadeniz Electrik Uterim (Karkey) was found involved in corruption, a core committee comprised of civil and military leadership led to the uncovering of evidence of corruption in Turkey, Switzerland, Lebanon, Panama, and Dubai (the UAE).

This evidence was presented to the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) Tribunal by the Core Committee.

Pakistan Army amicably resolved the Karkey dispute and saved Pak USD 1.2 billion in penalties imposed by ICSID.

If the dispute had not been settled and Pakistan would have paid the amount, Pakistan’s GDP would have shrunk by nearly 2pc and Pakistan would have defaulted on its international obligations.

Due to the Army’s countless efforts under the leadership of COAS, Pakistan was saved from the $11 billion penalty in the Reko Diq case and reconstituted a project aimed at excavating huge gold and copper reserves from the site in Balochistan.

The Reko Diq agreement was a result of COAS’ personnel efforts as he convinced all parties for a National Consensus.

The Reko Diq agreement has been reached after several rounds of negotiations over the past three years.

Reko Diq will potentially be the largest gold & copper mine in the world. It will liberate Pakistan from crippling debt & usher in a new era of development & prosperity.

Reko Diq will prove to be a game changer for Federal, Provincial Governments and the people of Balochistan.

It shall not only restore an investment-friendly image of Pakistan but will also accrue major economic benefits, development of indigenous mineral exploration capability, and result in a momentous socio-economic boost for the people of Balochistan.

General Bajwa should also be accredited for launching the public version of the country’s first-ever National Security Policy, which positions geoeconomics as a major part of the country’s national security outline.

The military’s increasing focus on stabilizing the economy demonstrates that the institution realizes that comprehensive sovereignty and security cannot be achieved in the absenteeism of economic constancy.

During the pandemic, while the entire world was shattered by the looming crises, Pakistan’s military took lead to strategize and put to effect a novel idea for the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC).

The Military’s organizational and administrative skill was put to good use, and a state-of-the-art quick but enduring solution surfaced.

It not only contributed to the distribution of food and medical equipment to the poor but also carried out large-scale awareness campaigns about Covid-19. Due to such effective and synergized efforts, Pakistan has not only tackled Covid-19 aftermaths very efficiently but also averted an impending economic tragedy.

General Qamar Javed Bajwa was given the charge of Pakistan’s ‘incumbent’ Chief of Army Staff on 29 November 2016.

It was a time when the war against terror had entered its decisive phase, with Pakistan facing multiple political and economic challenges at the same time.

The Army under his supervision came up with a vision to work together with the government for maintaining law and order in the country, improving the civil-military relationship as well as strengthening Pakistan’s ties with the international community.

The launching of an all-encompassing Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad, the efforts to solidify relations with regional countries, the endeavors for US withdrawal from Afghanistan, and the goodwill gestures shown to everyone, is all reflective of that vision.

The Army Chief’s services towards the restoration of peace within the country and in the region as a whole are certainly commendable; his close focus has remained not only on Pakistan but also the entire region as priority number one.

To him, countries do not progress singly alone, but only if the entire region moves ahead on the path of growth and development.

Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad commenced on 22 February 2017 under which Intelligence Based Operations (IBOs) were conducted in the width and breadth of the country.

It was aimed at restoring law, order, and peace within Pakistan by first tightening the noose against the elements of evil and then finally eliminating them from our soil.

This operation was regarded as the national cause of which the people of Pakistan are an important part as well as a primary focus. It is the people’s role that determines how pivotal is it to exterminate extremism and terrorism.

Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad started at a point when the terrorists tried to hide in urban areas, after suffering huge losses in men and materials.

There in the populated areas, they started hitting soft targets, which in deed necessitated the initiation of a comprehensive all-encompassing operation.

Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa, on one hand, proved himself as a ‘terminator’ to the enemies of peace, he at the same time is also credited for giving a befitting response to the aggressive postures of Pakistan’s arch enemy India.

When India, already involved in weakening Pakistan through acts of terrorism, and economical and 5th Generational Warfare conspiracies, resorted to seemingly decisive maneuvering against Pakistan in February 2019, the military leadership of the country came up with a well-thought-out strategy and swift dare-day-light response to Indian hostility that resulted in teaching the enemy an unforgettable lesson.

Still, the Indians are licking the wounds inflicted by Pakistan on 27 February. Certainly, the credit goes to the Army leadership’s brilliant military strategy that saved the South Asian region from an impending holocaust.

Paigham e Pakistan is a significant part of NAP. For the first time, over 1800 religious ulema together released an edict against terrorism and extremism.

Here come General Bajwa’s efforts to garner support and mutual consensus by Wafaq-ul-Madaris and ulema, who helped in making the most effective narrative against the elements of hate.

The international community rightly recognized and duly appreciated Pakistan’s key facilitative role, which it played under General Bajwa’s Afghan Peace Process initiative.

He, during his first visit to Kabul in 2017, entered into a comprehensive peace dialogue and is continuing efforts for garnering durable peace in Afghanistan. Gen Bajwa played important role in the safe exit of American military personnel as well as citizens.
