Army to consolidate hard earned peace: Gen Asim

Says SSG is pride of nation

Chief of Army Staff Gen Syed Asim Munir said on Friday that Pak Army remains focused on evolving security situation and determined to take the battle to the terrorists and break nexus with their facilitators so as to ensure lasting peace through socio-economic development.

This was stated by the COAS during his visit to frontline troops deployed along Pakistan-Afghanistan Border. Interacting with officers and men, he commended their pro fessionalism, high morale and operational readiness, says a press release issued by ISPR.

Gen Asim said that Pakistan Army will consolidate the hard earned peace, made possible by the supreme sacrifices of resilient Pakistani nation and law enforcing agencies.

Gen Asim was also briefed by field commanders on latest security situation in the area and response mechanisms to thwart terrorist threat.

During his visit to Miranshah, he laid floral wreath at Martyrs’ Monument to pay homage to brave soldiers who laid thier lives while defending the motherland .

Later, COAS also visited headquarters of SSG Tarbela and met officers and men of SSG including fessionalism, high morale and operational readiness, says a press release issued by ISPR.

The Army Chief praised their indomitable spirit, sacrifices and commitment to the duty in various operations. He said that SSG is the pride of nation and it had proved it’s metal over the years.

Earlier on arrival, Gen Asim was received by Lt-Gen Hassan Azhar Hayat, Commander Peshawar Corps.
