All Pakistan Compressed Natural Gas Association (APCNGA) on Monday asked Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) to hold public hearing on SNGPL and SSGC petitions for determining gas price for the fiscal year 2020-21 without any delay.
“In that regard, the association has given a reminder to OGRA for holding the public hearing at the earliest as only 15 days have left in completion of the current fiscal year,” APCNGA Central Chairman Abdul Ghiyas Paracha said in a press statement.
The authority, he said, had advertised the public hearing in national dailies on May 22 regarding participation/ intervention for SNGPL and SSGC petitions for price determination for FY 2020-21, but could not hold the hearing apparently due to coronavirus evolving situation.
Paracha said the hearing could be arranged in a controlled environment in line with the standard operating procedures introduced by the government to contain the virus spread. “Only those parties may be allowed to participate which pay the participation fee to OGRA. And the price determination process should be completed immediately to announce new gas tariff applicable from July 1, 2020.”
He said the association had submitted its suggestions to OGRA, under which the gas price could be brought down by 45 percent as per the existing tariff determining formula.
