KARACHI – The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) continued to set new records as KSE-100 index on Friday crossed the 76,000 milestone for first time in history of Pakistan.

During intra-day trading, the bench market gained 956 points to reach 76,070, setting another record as investors responding positively amid hopes that Pakistan would secure another bailout package from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

A day earlier, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) stated that “significant progress” was achieved during talks with Pakistan regarding another bailout package.

An IMF team, led by Nathan Porter, the IMF’s Mission Chief to Pakistan, visited Islamabad during May 13-23, 2024, to hold discussions with the Pakistani official in this regard.

“The mission and the authorities will continue policy discussions virtually over the coming days aiming to finalise discussions, including the financial support needed to underpin the authorities’ reform efforts from the IMF and Pakistan’s bilateral and multilateral partners,” Porter said in a statement.
