In preparation for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations, the Islamabad Police have beefed up security in the federal capital to thwart any untoward incident and to ensure the safety and wellbeing of citizens.

An important meeting, chaired by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Islamabad Syed Ali Raza, was held to discuss and finalize foolproof security arrangements for the occasion.

The meeting was participated by key officials including SSP Operations, Zonal SPs, SDPOs, and SHOs. During the meeting, it was decided that all officers would organize rallies within their respective areas to mark the occasion and remain active in the field to maintain law and order. The officials were also instructed to ensure smooth traffic flow throughout the city.

A key focus of the meeting was the crackdown on dangerous activities such as one-wheeling. The Islamabad Police plan to take strict action against one-wheeling and workshops involved in the manufacturing of motorcycles used for this purpose. Furthermore, a campaign will be launched against vehicles with non-standard and fancy number plates.

Deployment of special forces at entertainment venues and markets, as well as increased patrolling by police station mobiles, CTD commandos, and the Dolphin Force would also be taken, it was decided. DIG Islamabad made it clear that harassment and any violation of the law would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

“The Islamabad Police will take all possible measures to protect the life and property of citizens,” said DIG Islamabad Syed Ali Raza. “On the occasion of Independence Day, there would be an effective crackdown against any elements that attempt to break the law.”

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rawalpindi has imposed an immediate ban on the sale, purchase, and supply of fireworks materials, including firecrackers, across the district ahead of Independence Day celebrations. This action has been taken under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).

The DC’s directive mandates all Station House Officers (SHOs) to rigorously enforce the ban. Orders have been issued for SHOs in Rawalpindi district to immediately crack down on violators and confiscate any fireworks materials found.

Additionally, the authorities have been instructed to strictly monitor key wholesale markets known for the sale of firecrackers, including Nirankari Bazaar, Trunk Bazaar, Raja Bazaar, and Ganjmundi Bazaar. These areas will be closely watched to prevent any illegal sale and distribution of fireworks.
