All resources to be used to achieve 22m metric tons of wheat in Punjab

All resources are being used to achieve the production of 22 million metric tons of wheat in Punjab this year which will ensure the country’s food security. In order to increase the average production of wheat from 31 mound to 40 mounds per acre in Punjab, the farmers should complete wheat cultivation on the maximum area by November 20th.

These views were expressed by Director General Agriculture Extension while addressing the Farmers’ Convention organized in the context of the campaign to grow more wheat for the awareness of farmers with cooperation of private fertilizer company.

He further said that in order to make wheat profitable, the support price has been increased to Rs. 3000 per 40 kg.

He urged the farmers to cultivate wheat on maximum area in national duty. Director General Agriculture Extension further said that the workers of the agricultural extension are helping and guiding the farmers in every possible way in the field with the support of the students of the Agricultural Universities.

Dr. Muhammad Yasin, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture and Sciences, University of Agriculture, in his address said that timely cultivation of wheat on maximum area has been ensured through motivation and encouragement among the farmers so that the additional production of wheat in the country will help the country.

The food security situation can be made satisfactory.
