Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir Raja Muhammad Farooq Haider Khan has appealed European Union to use its influence and stop India from genocide of Kashmiris. According to an official handout issued here on Tuesday, the Prime Minister while addressing in Brussels demanded lifting of curfew, access of Kashmiris to food and medicines and restoring communication of the occupied valley with rest of the world.
The Prime Minister thanked European Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee initiative to incorporate Kashmir issue in its New Parliamentary Year’s First Day Agenda. He said Kashmir is not a land dispute between Pakistan and India but future of the over eight million people. The solution of the issue lies in implementations of the UN resolutions giving them right to self determination.
“Pakistan talks about UN resolutions on Kashmir while India is trying for its illegal accession with it through the use of force”, PM added. Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Kashmir Council Europe Ali Raza Syed vowed to raise voice for the oppressed Kashmiris at every forum. Members of European Parliament Shafaq Muhammad and Phill Banen demanded immediate end of Indian troops siege of the occupied territory and restoration of human rights of Kashmiris.
Meanwhile, The European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs in its meeting strongly criticized India and demanded Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to immediately lift the New Delhi-sanctioned curfew in occupied Kashmir.
Expressing serious concern over the complete communication and media blackout in the valley, the members of European Parliament condemned the behavior of Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) administration.
Members of the European Parliament demanded that India start a dialogue with Pakistan right away and Modi immediately lift the curfew in Kashmir. The members further said the European Union (EU) and the European Parliament should issue a reactionary statement on the situation in occupied Kashmir as soon as possible.
