The Anti-Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) of Islamabad Police nabbed 140 car lifters during the previous year and recovered 160 stolen or snatched vehicles and 29 bikes from them.
According to the details, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar directed DIG (Operations) Waqar Uddin Syed to curb car lifting incidents through special vigilance and effective policing. Following his directions, he constituted special teams headed by SP (Investigation) Syed Mustafa Tanveer which included In-Charge ACLC Sub-Inspector Liaqat Ali and others. These teams succeeded to bust 53 gangs of car lifters or snatchers while 24 car receivers were also held in 2019. A total of 140 car lifters were nabbed during the previous year and 160 stolen or snatched vehicles and 29 bikes were recovered from them.
While reviewing this performance of ACLC, DIG (Operations) Waqar Uddin Syed has appreciated it and directed for further effective policing to curb car lifting incidents.—INP
