In a press conference held on Monday, Engr Hafiz NaeemurRahman, a prominent figure in the city, emphasized the urgent need for reforms within the local police force to effectively tackle the rising crime rates. He asserted that without a robust local police system in place, controlling crime and ensuring the safety of citizens would remain challenging. Rahman called on the Provincial Minister of Interior, Zia-ul-HasanLanjar, to retract his statement regarding the escalation of crime in Karachi and to apologize to the public.

He also demanded swift action against both petty and organized criminals operating under the nose of the Sindh government. Highlighting the alarming increase in armed robberies, Rahman lamented the loss of innocent lives due to criminal activities. He criticized the government’s failure to address the growing insecurity felt by residents, particularly during the month of Ramadan.

Moreover, Rahman announced plans for a nationwide observance of “Youm-e-Quds” (Jerusalem Day) in response to a plea from the leader of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Siraj-ul-Haq. He urged the entire nation to stand in solidarity with the people of Gaza and condemned the oppressive policies of Israel and the United States.

In a fiery address, Rahman denounced any attempts to normalize relations with Israel and criticized the government’s focus on trade with India, highlighting the economic hardships faced by the Pakistani people. He accused the ruling parties of colluding with international agendas at the expense of national interests. Rahman concluded by reiterating the importance of safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty and expressing solidarity with the people of Kashmir. He vowed to continue advocating for reforms and resisting any compromises that undermine the country’s integrity.
