Schools to remain closed in Sindh on Friday amid heavy rain forecast

Sindh authorities announced that all private and government evening shift schools in the province will remain closed on Friday (March 1, 2024) as the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicted heavy rains across the region.

A notification shared by Sindh School Education and Literacy Department said all private and public evening shift schools would remain closed in the province.

The school holiday was announced as provincial government declared rain emergency in the province.

Furthermore, government and private offices will open for half-day on Friday (March 1) in the provincial capital Karachi, as newly-elected Sindh Chief Minister announced rain emergency.

A strong westerly wave has entered Pakistan and is approaching western parts of the country. Under the influence of this weather system, it said rain-wind/thunderstorm is expected in Sukkur, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Larkana, Dadu, Shaheed Benazirabad Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, and Khairpur.
