The federal capital on Thursday recorded 1 per cent Covid-19 positivity rate as 39 persons were found infected with virus after 3,906 tests conducted during the last twenty-four hours.
According to the National Command & Operation Centre (NCOC), positivity in Islamabad for the last one week has not gone beyond 1 per cent and on Thursday too it was almost one percent lower than the country’s positivity (2 percent).
This goes largely to the credit of the general public and the paced-up vaccination drive in the city, said the District Health Officer (DHO) Dr Zaeem Zia while talking to Pakistan Observer.
According to the health authorities, around 500,000 in Islamabad have been vaccinated in the federal capital and there is no shortage of vaccines at the vaccination centres.
Earlier in the day DHO Dr Zaeem Zia along with other members of the District Health Office team Dr Zulfiqar, Dr Asma, Dr Rashida, Amir Niazi and others held e-kachehri and replied the questions of the residents regarding vaccination online.
To a questiom, Dr Zaeem said the interval/break between two doses of Covif-19 Chinese vaccine has been enhanced from four weeks to six weeks on the instructions of the NCOC.
They dismissed any fears and rumours associated with vaccination orocess and urged the public not to heed them.
Vaccines being administered at the vaccination centres of Islamabad are safe and their results are more than 90 percent.
To all those who have not turned up after first dose, they DHO said they should not hesitate and if they have received message for the second dose, they should not wait for a single day and visit their closest vaccination centre and get Covid-19 jabs.
About vaccination shortage, he said there were ample stocks of vaccines and Islamabad residents are ahead of all other cities with regard to their prompt response for vaccination and compliance of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
