The World Food Day is celebrated each year on 16 October to promote worldwide awareness and action for those who suffer from hunger and for the need to ensure food security and nutritious diets for all. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) designated 16th October World Food Day in 1979. The Day has been celebrated annually since 1981 by many organizations concerned with food security. Events are organized in over 130 countries across the world, making it one of the most celebrated days of the UN calendar. This year the theme of world food day is “Our actions are our future; Healthy Diets for A Zero Hunger World”. Various organizations including Ministry of National Food Security Research, Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC), Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, World Food Program (WFP) ,Oxfam and research institutes will come together to organize the ceremony at National Agricultural Research Centre, Islamabad.
