The Sindh Police’s Special Branch’s Additional Inspector General (AIG) Imran Yaqoob on Tuesday applied for a two-month leave. He said this in protest against the recent episode of registration of a case against PML-N leader Captain (retd) Muhammad Safdar.
Safdar – the son-in-law of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif – was arrested from a hotel room in Karachi Monday morning for allegedly disrespecting the mausoleum of the Founder of the Nation, only to be released by a court hours later.
The officer in his application submitted to Sindh police chief Mushtaq Mahar stating that the high command of Sindh police was not only ridiculed but also mishandled during the recent episode of registration of FIR against the PML-N leader. “All ranks of Sindh police have been demoralised and shocked,” he added,
In order to “come out of this shock,” AIG Imran said he needed at least 60 days to settle down.
According to reports other senior officers, including Sindh IG Mushtaq Mahar in a similar decision have applied for a two-month leave.
Meanwhile, PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari along with Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah met with Sindh IG at his house and ask him not go to leave and starts working.
