Chughtai Lab organized walk titled: “Aik Qadam Sehat Ki Taraf” to raise awareness against breast cancer here on Saturday. The walk started from Chughtai Lab DD Block Defence and ended at Chughtai Medical Center at Lalak Jan Chowk.
Breast Cancer is the most common cancer in women and every year about 83,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer in Pakistan. The walk was arranged by Chughtai Lab to raise awareness about the importance of early diagnosis of breast cancer and bring the community together to fight the menace.
The event started with a welcome note by Dr. Omar Chughtai, Director Chughtai Lab, who talked about the importance of raising awareness about this important health issues and conducting regular awareness campaigns to improve community health. He also emphasized on the need for early diagnose of breast cancer and its early detection to completely eradicate it.
Dr. Aroosa Usman, Consultant Family Physician talked about the importance of women’s health and regular screening programs. Dr. Maham Janjua, Assistant Professor Gynecology and Obstetrics was also present at the event who emphasized self-breast examination and consulting a doctor immediately if a symptom of breast cancer is present in anyone.
The awareness walk started at 3:15 pm from Chughtai Medical Center, DD Block, Defense with 200 people, and reached at Chughtai Medical Center Lalik Jan Chowk at 4:30 pm where the closing ceremony was held.
Dr. Omar Chughtai, Chief Operations, Chughtai Lab concluded the event with his vote of thanks to the audience for supporting Chughtai Lab in its community health initiatives. The event ended in high spirits with a promise that everyone will take care of themselves and take preventive measures.
The audience appreciated the initiative by Chughtai Lab on taking steps to encourage people to stay healthy. In the end, hi-tea was served and guests had the opportunity to network and interact among themselves and with the Chughtai Lab team.
