Over 47,000 sacks of wheat, valued at Rs800 million, have mysteriously disappeared from a government warehouse in Khairpur district, Sindh. This alarming incident has prompted the suspension of three food officers by the Sindh Food Department, including the district food controller, food supervisor, and food inspector.
Notably, this is not the first instance of wheat going missing from government warehouses in Sindh, as a similar case occurred in Naushehro Feroze back in 2022. Despite such setbacks, the Sindh cabinet recently set a procurement target of 900,000 tonnes of wheat, highlighting the urgency to address the issue of wheat theft in the province.
