35-member WHO team visits KTH

A team of WHO consisted of 35 members visited Medical Teaching Institution Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH). The participants visited MTI KTH where they were given briefing about the finding for institutionalization of a patient safety system based on WHO patient safety kit.
The team was led by Afifa Baloch and Dr Zulfiqar Khan and the participants were from all over the DHQs and hospitals of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The participants were divided into five groups and visited MTI KTH Pharmacy, Central Sterilization Department, Medical Record, Radiology, Laboratory, Blood Bank and newly under construction basement. The team was received by Senior Media and Protocol Manager Farhad Khan, Manager HR Yousaf Jamal and Manager Facilities Tahir Shahzad. The welcome address and briefing was given by Medical Director Prof Dr Amir Azhar.
As a part of WHO initiative in Pakistan training workshop would be conducted throughout Pakistan to foster an interactive approach for development of the local capacity on the use of assessment and improvement initiative. The workshop focused on the capacity building of hospital managers to prepare them for the implementation of standards.
WHO selected MTI KTH as it was the best and most suited for the purpose of field visit for patient safety friendly hospital framework.
