As many as 40 people have been killed and over 200 wounded in a blast at a Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) convention in the Khar a tehsil headquarters of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bajaur district, police said on Sunday.

The blast took place on Sunday afternoon at Shandy Morr in the outskirts of Khar city which is the district headquarters of Bajaur.
Inspector General of Police in KP Akhtar Hayat Khan told Aaj News that the suicide bombing occurred during the speech of JUI-F Khar’s head Ziaullah Jan at the workers’ convention.
The IGP said that the police have found the remains of the suicide bomber, while further investigations were underway.
Forty people were killed in the blast while 115 were injured, out of which 65 are getting medical treatment at the DHQ Khar, Medical Officer of District Headquarters Hospital Bajaur Doctor Liaquat Ali said. He added that more than 30 were moved to Timargara.
The authorities were shifting over 20 critically injured to Peshawar Hospital, he added.
