Terrorists’ attack targeting the Judge’s convoy in Tank district on Friday left at least two security personnel martyred and an equal number of others seriously wounded. The judicial officers, however, remained unhurt in the attack

According to the Police and officials of the district administration unknown attackers targeted the judges’ vehicles with sophisticated weapons on Dera Road in the village of Bhagwal.
An intense exchange of firing took place between the policemen, escorting the Judge’s vehicles, and the unknown attackers that resulted in the martyrdom of two cops while two others received serious wounds. Fortunately, the judges remained unhurt.

The martyred security personnel have been identified as Constable Abdullah and Constable Samad. The assailants effectively manage to escape from the scene after committing the crime. “The attackers, who remain unidentified, targeted the judges’ vehicle with gunfire”. The Police said.

The Police have started investigations into the incident and the security forces are also reported to have kicked off operation in the region to apprehend the perpetrators of the ambush on Judge’s convoy. While the incident has sparked widespread condemnation and raised concerns about the safety of judicial personnel in the region, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal KarimKundi and Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur have condemned the attack on the judge’s convoy in strong words and expressed sympathies with the family members of the martyred cops who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. A report presented to the National Assembly reveals that during the first four months of the year 2024, Pakistan experienced 561 terror attacks, resulting in the deaths of 167 security personnel and 118 civilians. Furthermore, 348 security personnel and 253 civilians were injured in these attacks. Earlier in April last unknown abductors had abducted District and Sessions Judge Waziristan ShakirUllahMarwat on gun point prompting the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to initiate quick efforts for the early recovery of the senior judge.

The senior judicial officer Session judge Waziristan was on his way from Tank district to D I Khan when armed bandits intercepted his vehicle at GarramMohabbat area of Kulachi Tehsil and kidnaped the judge at gunpoint. Session Judge ShakirUllah was, however, recovered after two days.
