129 govt schools abolished

The authorities have shut down 129 government schools indefinitely in Lahore. According to details, after closing 129 schools the total number of schools remaining in the city is 1,119 which were 1,248. Despite the growing population and demand for better education for the children, there were no new school has been built in Lahore in the last ten years. The District Education Authority decided to address the issue and has demanded 1000 new schools in the city. The existing 1119 schools are now struggling to accommodate the educational needs of the growing population by running the schools in double shifts. Furthermore, the education authority stated that there is no space in schools for the enrollment of new students as six and a half lakh children are already studying in government schools. Under the Punjab Examination Commission (PEC) the experiment of taking mid-term exams in Punjab schools has failed. As per details, the question papers were in English due to which millions of children across the province failed in various subjects.
