KARACHI – A foreign flight made an emergency landing at Karachi airport after a passenger passed away on board.
The flight G 9512, operated by an international airline, was en route from Sharjah to Dhaka when a 42-year-old passenger fell ill, prompting a request for an emergency landing in Karachi.
With the permission of Karachi’s air traffic controller, the aircraft landed at Karachi Airport.
According to a spokesperson for the Civil Aviation Authority, a medical team at Karachi Airport examined the passenger and confirmed that he had passed away.
Following standard procedures, the body was handed over to the airline. The aircraft departed Karachi Airport for Dhaka with the body at 6:15 am.
Back in Feb 2024, a flight of Saudi Airlines made an emergency landing in southern port city of Karachi due to a medical emergency.
The flight SV 802 took off from Dhaka in wee hours and heading to Riyadh when health condition of a passenger deteriorated when the plane was flying in Indian airspace.
Reports said the pilot contacted the Indian officials but they denied permission for emergency landing, forcing the pilot to contact the air traffic controller in Pakistan.
The Pakistani air traffic controller allowed the flight to land at the Karachi airport on humanitarian grounds. As the plane landed, a medical team examined the passenger and provided him medical aid.
