WWE founder Vince McMahon resigns amid sex-trafficking suit

Former wrestler and pioneer of leading wrestling firm Vince McMahon has called it a day as executive chairman of TKO Group Holdings, the parent company of WWE, amid serious allegations related to assault, sex trafficking and abuse.

McMahon, after initially dismissing the allegations, was forced to quit as a former WWE employee Janel Grant filed legal suit against American billionaire.

This is not the first case Vince McMahon is facing but the nature of allegations this time forced his exit from the office. The man is said to be the pioneer of leading wrestling company that produces content aired around the world.

In a statement, McMahon said he decided to resign from his executive chairmanship and the TKO BoG, right away, and thanked for WWE fans, players, shareholders, partners and constituents, and employees who helped him make WWE the top firm, with global superstars.

As McMahon decided to quit from company, he called this case pack of lies, and obscene made-up instances that never occurred. The 78-year-old also linked it with vindictive distortion of the facts.

The WWE boss reportedly made huge payments in settlements to dozens of women during his decades-long run as the company’s chief.

This time, the former WWE staffer Grant accused McMahon luring her with job offer in exchange for physical relation. The woman also stated that McMahon trafficked her to WWE people and officials of other firms.

The ex-WWE employee accuses both defendants of sexually assaulting her at WWE headquarters in June 2021. She further mentioned probe into an alleged $3 million settlement between McMahon and an ex-employee with whom he had a consensual affair.

Grant, in her legal filing, accused WWE of trying to cover up McMahon’s behavior, and claimed that the committee did not contact her or request documents from her.

Vince McMahon remains a key figure in the wrestling industry for several decades and is known for transforming WWE into a major entertainment conglomerate.

The billionaire took control of the company from his father in around 25 years back and played a pivotal role in expanding its reach beyond traditional wrestling audiences.

Under his watch, WWE become a global entertainment powerhouse, incorporating various forms of media, including television, film, merchandise, and live events.
