Nepal is a country of over120 ethnic groups, 125 different languages and major religions, world’s highest peak Mount Everest, top 8 mountain peaks and above all, birthplace of Siddhartha Gautama Lord Buddha.
For Pakistanis, the country offers plenty of tourist attractions like affordable travel, stay, food and above all visa on arrival.
These and many other attractions make Nepal among the top tourist destinations Nepal expects over 2 million tourists in the year 2020.
Ambassador of Nepal Sewa Lamsal Adhikari on Tuesday formally launched ‘Visit Nepal 2020’ in order to introduce her country’s tourism charms and potential in this sector.
Nepal govt is celebrating Visit Nepal Year 2020 as a national campaign with a theme Nepal: Lifetime Experience.
Federal Secretary National History & Literary Heritage (NHLH) Dr Nadeem Shafiq Malik was the chief guest on the occasion while Aziz Boolani was the co-host of the event.
While addressing the ceremony Nepal ambassador said her country was unique in the sense it was popular with a diverse range of tourists from the world richest to the low-income individuals like yogis and sinyasi.
“We take pride in our ethnic diversity, hundreds and thousands of years old traditions and history, natural beauty and greenery, etc,” said the ambassador.
It is a land of enlightenment, purity, peace and actions, she said.
In year 2020, we have set a target to host over 2 million tourists from all over the world, said the ambassador.
Ambassador Adhikari further said Nepal’s 10 famous world heritage sites are recognized by the UNESCO. They include: Pashupatinath Temple, Swaymbhunath Stupa, Boudhanath Stupa, Kathmandu Durbar Sqaure, Patan Durbar Square, Bhaktapr Durbar, Changu Narayan Temple, Lumbini, Chitwan National Park and Sagarmatha National Park.
While addressing the ceremony as Chief Guest, Secretary NHLH Dr Nadeem Shafiq Malik said Nepal was a must-visit country as one can experience its rich diversity, hospitality and plenty of beauty. Food, language in Nepal is no problem for Pakistani tourists and the Nepalese people consider Pakistanis their fast friends, he said.
A cake was also cut on the occasion to celebrate the national campaign of Visit Nepal 2020 and a documentary showing Nepal’s wonderful people, cultural and sites was also screened on the occasion.
