LAHORE – Police have identified the main suspect who had hatched the plan for kidnapping, assaulting and robbing Pakistan’s famous writer and poet Khalilur Rehman Qamar.

The disturbing incident took place a day earlier when the playwright was abducted and subjected to assault.

Khalil ur Rehman Qamar’s Kidnapping

The victim’s family revealed that a woman named Amna approached Khalilur Rehman Qamar and invited him to her house to discuss a project. As the writer arrived at the given address, a group of armed men abducted him. Qamar reportedly paid big sum of amount to the culprits, who then released him.

Lahore police registered a case under sections related to kidnapping and assault. The FIR said suspects tortured Qamar and moved him to various locations.

The victim alleged that kidnappers threatened to kill him and demanded money from his relatives. FIR also mentions that suspects deprived scriptwriter from his mobile, watch, and cash, and withdrew 2.5lac using his ATM card.

Reports said the plan for kidnapping the renowned literary person was made by Hasan Shah. Police conducted raids in Nankana Sahib to arrest him but the prime suspect is still at large.
