Most of the Pakistani players were overlooked once again as The Hundred draft concluded including Pakistan’s international captain Babar Azam.

Despite a strong contingent and a history of proven track record in the shortest format of the game, the majority of players failed to beguile the eight teams in the competition.

Let’s take a look at who made the cut and who was not selected.

Pakistani players selected in the Hundred draft:

Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf and Ihsanullah were the only three local players to hear their names called by teams during the draft.

Shaheen and Rauf were selected by Welsh Fire while Ihsanullah went to the Oval Invincibles.

Welsh Fire selected Shaheen for the 100,000£ price before snagging Rauf in the 60,000£ price range. Ihsanullah went to Invicibles for 40,000£.

As always the teams preferred pace bowlers from Pakistan.

Shaheen and Rauf are arguably one of the best bowling pairs in cricket, with the two leading Pakistan’s attack for the international side while also wreaking havoc in PSL for Lahore Qalandars.

Ihsanullah, meanwhile, continues his meteoric rise in cricket after coming to everyone’s attention while playing for Multan Sultans in PSL 8. Having already earned a place on the national side, he may hear his name called more often in franchise league cricket if he continues to perform.

Shadab had already been retained by Birmingham Phoenix before the draft process.

Players that went unsold:

Every other entrant from Pakistan went unsold with Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan being the highest-profile names.

Babar also went unsold last year.

Azam Khan, Usama Mir, Mohammad Amir, Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Nawaz, Tayyab Tahir, Naseem Shah and all others failed to find suitors.
