ISLAMABAD – ZilHajj Crescent Sighting is set to be held on May 27 Tuesday to sight moon of Eid ul Azha in Pakistan – two of major Islamic festivals.
Ministry of Religious Affairs announced that Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee (CRHC) will convene on Tuesday to sight the crescent of Zilhaj 1446 AH. The session will take place at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, located in Kohsar Block of the Pak Secretariat, Islamabad, chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, Chairman of the CRHC.
“The meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee for sighting the moon of Zulhajj 1446 AH will be held, In-Shaa-Allah, on the evening of Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at the Ministry’s Islamabad office,” the statement read.

Ministry officials stated that if the crescent is sighted on the evening of May 27, Eid ul Azha will be celebrated on Friday, June 6. However, if the moon is not visible that evening, the festival will instead be observed on Saturday, June 7.
As final decision will rest with Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee based on physical moon sighting, astronomers have indicated that the moon is more likely to be visible on May 28. This raises the possibility that Eid ul Azha may fall on June 7.
Pakistanis now await official announcement following the committee’s meeting, which will be broadcast across media platforms after the moon sighting proceedings conclude.
