ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s ballistic missile program was met with more restrictions as United States slammed National Development Complex and three related firms. As the sanction caused new stir, prompting a strong response from Pakistan, defense experts in Pakistan believed these new restrictions would not impactthe country’s missile capabilities.
War strategists emphasized that Pakistan’s missile program is backed by decades-long efforts of its engineers and the country achieved self-sufficiency, regardless of foreign pressures.
A senior Research Fellow at the Centre for International Strategic Studies (CISS) firmly stated that measures would have no effect on Pakistan’s missile program. He further noted the fragility of India’s command and control system, citing March 2022 blunder when India fired Ba rahMos missile originating from Haryana that crashed into Mian Channu, and it caused global embarrassment for Modi-led government.
Defense analysts further lamented the mishandling of uranium by New Delhi, as the highly radioactive material was found from scrap dealers.
Other defense experts called US sanctions unjust decision and highlighted that Islamabad always adhered to nuclear non-proliferation agreements, which the US itself praised in the past. Such sanctions have been imposed before, and despite them, Pakistan never compromised its national security.
Major General (R) Zahid Mahmood also weighed in, recalling that Pakistan has faced numerous challenges and sanctions throughout its history. Despite these, Pakistan has continued to prioritize national security while making significant sacrifices for global peace.
Experts urged Washington to engage in dialogue with Pakistan to resolve any concerns, rather than relying on sanctions that have historically proven ineffective.
As the situation unfolds, Pakistan remains steadfast in its commitment to national security and its missile development program, with experts predicting that the country will continue to maintain its self-reliance.
