Weather update for Lahore, Punjab; rains, gusty winds expected

ISLAMABAD – Monsoon rains and gusty winds are expected in Lahore and parts of Punjab on Friday night and Saturday with occasional gaps.

Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), weak monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal penetrate southern parts of Pakistan. A trough of shallow westerly wave prevails over upper parts of the country.

Under these weather conditions, monsoon rains and gusty winds are expected at isolated places in Murree, Galliyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Tala Gang, Mianwali, Sargodha, Jhelum, Gujarat, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar and Dera Ghazi Khan on Friday night.

On Saturday, mainly hot and humid weather is expected in most districts of the province. However, rains and gusty winds are expected at isolated places in Murree, Galliyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Tala Gang, Mianwali, Sargodha, Jhelum, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Lahore, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, and Narowal. Lahore’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 35-37°C on Saturday and Sunday.

Meanwhile, isolated rain-wind/thundershowers occurred in Lahore and northeastern/south Punjab during the last 24 hours.

Multan remained the hottest place in Punjab where the maximum temperature was recorded at 40°C.

In Lahore, maximum temperature was recorded at 36°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 67 per cent.
