Weather outlook of Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa; more rains, gusty winds predicted

PESHAWAR – More rains and gusty winds are predicted in Peshawar and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday night and Tuesday with occasional gaps.

Isolated heavy falls are predicted in upper districts during the period.

Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal penetrate upper and central parts of Pakistan and likely to strengthen tonight. A westerly wave prevails over upper parts.

Under these weather conditions, more intermittent rains are predicted in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Battagram, Buner, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Mardan, Swabi, Charsadda, Nowshera, Peshawar, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Kohat, Kurram, Hangu, Kark, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, Waziristan and Dera Ismail Khan on Monday night and Tuesday. Heavy falls are likely in upper districts during the period.

Heavy rains may increase flow in local nullas and streams in Mansehra, Abbottabad, Kohistan, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Nowshera and Swabi. Downpour may cause urban flooding in low-lying areas of Nowshera and Peshawar. Landslides may disrupt traffic in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Peshawar’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 36-38°C on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Meanwhile, rain-wind/thundershower occurred at isolated places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the last 24 hours.

In Peshawar, maximum temperature was recorded at 37°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 77 per cent.
