WB lauds Punjab PRIDE Program’s performance in alignment with Punjab’s new leadership

The World Bank (WB) during its week long review mission of the Punjab Resource Improvement and Digitalization Effectiveness (PRIDE) Program, expressed appreciation for Program’s outstanding performance and significant contributions.

In particular, the World Bank lauded the proactive steps taken by Punjab’s Finance Department under the guidance of Chief Minister Ms. Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The Finance Department’s adoption of a medium-term planning paradigm in government budgeting practices was highlighted as a significant milestone.

Through the implementation of the Medium-Term Fiscal Framework (MTFF) and Budget Strategy Paper, mandated by the Punjab PFM Act, 2022, the Finance Department has demonstrated a commitment to institutionalize best practices and ensuring prudent fiscal management. Recognizing PRIDE’s pivotal role, the World Bank highlighted its alignment with Punjab’s development agenda and its crucial role in fostering fiscal sustainability and modernization.

The World Bank’s assessment of the PRIDE Program’s performance yielded a resounding verdict of “Satisfactory,” affirming its status as one of Punjab’s Best Performing Program. The Program’s success underscores its effectiveness in driving positive change and enhancing service delivery for the citizens of Punjab.

The recognition from the World Bank reaffirms PRIDE Program’s pivotal role in driving Punjab towards sustainable growth and development. With unwavering dedication and strategic vision, the Program continues to set new benchmarks for excellence in governance and public service delivery.

The Public Financial Management Unit, Finance Department, under the PRIDE Program, in collaboration with concerned Department has achieved significant milestones, including implementing an e-Procurement system and a Single Digital Platform for services.

Moreover, the World Bank commended PRIDE Program’s adherence to WB Anti-Corruption Guidelines, aligning with Chief Minister Ms. Maryam Nawaz Sharif stated commitment to combat corruption. Chief Minister Ms. Maryam Nawaz Sharif has categorically stated that corruption is her red-line, emphasizing zero tolerance for corrupt practices within Punjab’s governance structures.
