It hurts parents, Zimbabweans’ prostitution is rampant because of a corrupt government. Hundreds of Zimbabweans in rural regions are joined the sex trade in recent in urban centers. They wait until dusk to start working. Mostly of their clients are ones they protect because they do not want to be seen as one is married and others are respected people in the community. Otherwise, they will open for 24 hours.

It is clear that the leaders of Zimbabwe also know this, some girls soon after the death of their parents, they dropped out of school as they could no longer afford the fees. The city is notorious for violence, prostitution, and drugs with a population that continues to increase with rural-to-urban migration. During the day, the area is quiet, with few people around. But once night falls it is a beehive of activity as sex workers solicit clients. Statistics on the number of young girls involved in prostitution are difficult to quantify, the situation is worrying. The sex trade is risky for the teenagers but they have no options.

Unlike in the past, job opportunities on farms in rural areas are becoming fewer each year because of the effects of climate change. Many of the teenage girls have experienced clients refusing to pay for services rendered, with some enduring sexual abuse and assault. In Zimbabwe, it is a criminal offence to solicit for sex which makes it difficult for young women to report wrongdoing against them to the police. ZANU-PF should be forcibly removed from office after it has failed

Ineffective PDMA

In recent heavy rains in Balochistan people of Dasht Balnegowar were affected due to dangerous conditions. People faced hardships with their small children, homes and crops while livestock also perished. But Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) was in no way able to help people in these extraordinary situations.

It is an urgent appeal to PDMA and Provincial government to extend help to people during such situations. The authorities need to help people in building basic infrastructure affected by sfloods. People should be provided items such as tents, food bags, medical help etc.

How problem of begging can be ended

Through the columns of your esteemed Daily, I would like to bring to light the mounting problem of begging in our society. Some people who resort to begging, no doubt, deserve our sympathy. They are handicapped. They are unable to earn their livilihood. But the pity is that most of the beggars are able-bodied.

Begging has become a profession for them. They find begging the easiest way to earn their living. Some of them are criminals. They beg only to hide their crimes. This large-scale begging is a blot on the fair name of our country. Begging should be abolished by law.

It should be made a punishable offence. The government should open asylum centres for those beggars who are really helpless. Able-bodied beggars should be made to work. If they go without work, they must also go without food.

We should have no sympathy for such impostors. We should not encourage them by giving alms. It is one of the rising evils in the society and we as people of the nation can thus play a big role in ending this evil.

Freedom of expression in Pakistan

Freedom of expression or speech is a principle that supports the freedom of an individual or a community to articulate their opinions and ideas without fear of retaliation, censorship or legal sanction. It is globally recognized as the foundation of human rights. In other words, freedom of expression is an assurance to citizens to participate effectively in the functioning of democracy.

Media today is seen as a very crucial affected element in Pakistan’s social and political discourse. As per the respondents, media in all its forms, was categorized as an important influence on the situation of human rights across the country. In Pakistan, there are restrictions on the freedom of expression despite having its provision in the construction. Mainly it is restricted through tactics that include censorship, narrow legislation, harassment, killing of journalists, human right activists and others who voice their opinions.

Since the freedom of expression is a basic human right, it should be exercised with its full spirit. However, this freedom should be within certain boundaries.

To ensure this, PEMERA’s code of conduct should be strictly enforced to avoid use of free speech by media as a medium of defamation of certain individuals and groups. Furthermore, Urdu media should also be encouraged to highlight human rights violations and raise awareness.
