Black Day for Kashmiris

Kashmiris across the globe observe October 27 as Black Day. It was on October 27, 1947 that Indian troops landed in Kashmir. Maharaja Hari Singh, the ruler of princely state of Jammu and Kashmir, was coerced to sign a fake instrument of accession.
The aim of the observance of the day is to remind the world of its obligations towards settling the Kashmir dispute as per relevant UN resolutions and the wishes of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. At the same time, it is intended to send a loud and clear message to New Delhi that Kashmiris reject its illegal occupation and they are determined to take their struggle for securing their unalterable right to self-determination to its logical conclusion, come what may.
In view of India’s nefarious designs to change the disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir and the demographic composition of the territory, the observance of October 27 as Black Day becomes more important for the Kashmiris to make it clear to India and the world community that they would never accept India’s hegemonic designs and would not rest till they achieved their cherished goal of freedom from the Indian servitude.

World food day

World Food Day is a day of action dedicated to tackling global hunger. Held annually on October 16, people from around the world come together to declare their commitment to eradicate worldwide hunger. Celebrating the creation of the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), events are organised in over 150 countries across the world, making it one of the most celebrated days of the UN calendar. These events promote worldwide awareness and action for those who suffer from hunger and for the need to ensure food security and nutritious diets for all.
The focus of the day is that food is a basic and fundamental human right, while over 820million people worldwide suffer from chronic food deficiency, 60% women and almost five million children under the age of five die of malnutrition-related causes every day. It’s also important to note that while millions go hungry, 672 million people suffer from obesity and a further 1.3 billion are overweight. We can change this. World Food Day 2018 focused on SDG 2 – Zero Hunger, with theme of “Our Actions are our Future”.

Cyber security and objectives

Cyber security is a fundamental security paradigm in today’s modern warfare era. Countries should protect their own information assets, because rivals try and seek to target their information system. This is an advanced strategy of states to overthrow their adversary by creating new cyber threats such as APTS. APTS are known as advanced president threats, which are highly complex threats and very difficult to counter.
Cyber security usually refers to an entity initiating threats due to the existence of a global cyberspace (Internet). Cyber security requires stakeholders in the cyberspace area to be active in security, beyond the protection of their own assets. In previous era, simple encryption techniques such as caesar ciphers were created to ensure confidentiality. But as time and technology move forward, demands of security have increased. Today, to protect information, three indispensable components are concerned with the protection of information such as confidentiality, integrity and availability. Confidentiality means protection of information from unauthorised access, while integrity means protection of information from unauthorised modification and availability means protection of information from disruptions in access.

Women education

It is very important to provide education to women as the first learning of child start from home and mothers are the first teacher of children who give education and basic understanding of anything. Many organisations have joined hands in a collaborative effort to provide education to underprivileged children in Pakistan, especially girls. This initiative is admirable.

In all parts of world women facing threats to their lives, health and well being, as a result of being overburdened with work and lack of power and influence. Women receive less formal education than men. National development must be balanced with the equal distribution of resources to both males and females as in Pakistan females are approximately 51 percent of the total population and without their active participation Pakistan cannot achieve required level of growth.
Since creation of Pakistan in 1947 it inherited menace of poverty and the burden of this poverty was put heavily on female population because of the reason that majority of females are involved in agriculture work, performing tasks to maintain household, carrying water and collecting fuel wood but their work in productive activities is unrecognised and limited. Promotion and protection of women rights, to restore personal security and dignity of women and to give them protection at workplace, government should take every possible step to remove gender gap and inequality.

Police torture

The primary duty of police is to protect citizens and their rights but sadly instead of protecting citizens police is responsible for gruesome torture. They misuse the word “Custodians of law” and take the law in their hands. Instead of investigating and trying to find the truth they start torturing the accused in order to accept the crimes they didn’t even commit and even if they committed those crimes police is no one to punish them. It’s only the courts that can punish them in accordance with law of the land.
Recently police arrested a man named Salahuddin and a video of him being tortured during investigation was released and then next day his death was confirmed. His father stated that his son was mentally disabled that’s why he had tattooed his name and address on his arm for identification purposes. He was tortured by the custodians of law, as there were torture marks on his body. But the question is why was he tortured for committing a crime about which he himself wasn’t aware? The custodians of law killed a person who didn’t even have sense of vice and virtue. And it is sad and ironic at the same time that the custodians of law themselves violated the laws.
And something even sadder was that when their cruelty was exposed they instead of punishing culprits banned the use of cameras in police stations in order to hide their cruelty. The victim “Salahuddin” died but while leaving this world the faces he made on the cruel system of justice have left a question mark not only for the authorities but for this nation too that failed to get justice for him.
