VC AIOU briefs GB CM about university’s performance

Prof Dr Ziaul Qayyum, Vice Chancellor, Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) called on Chief Minister of Gilgit Baltistan (GB) Khalid Khurshid and briefed him about educational services and various programmes offered by the university to the people of GB.

Education Minister of GB, Raja Muhammad Azam Khan and Director Coordination & Follow-up, AIOU, Maj (R) Muhammad Omar Younus were also present in the meeting.

Prof Dr Ziaul Qayyum highlighted that AIOU was providing free matriculation education to the people of GB besides offering them scholarships and fee concessions.

He, further, informed the newly elected chief minister of the GB about various initiatives of the AIOU to provide educational facilities to the distant regions of Pakistan as well as underprivileged and marginalized segments of the society by establishing regional offices in underdeveloped areas.

The VC informed the CM about AIOU’s gradual transformation from manual to automation.
Allama Iqbal Open University will also make arrangements for imparting skill based education to the people of Ghit Baltistan, he add-
ed.
Chief Minister of GB Khalid Khurshid showed interest in the university’s programmes to equip people, particularly the youth of the GB with latest educational met-
hods.

AIOU, he said, was doing a wonderful job in distant education and people of the GB living in remote areas could complete their education through these distant progra-
mmes.

I highly valued the educational contributions of the AIOU at the national level in general and in the distant mountain ranges and valleys of the GB in particular, he said.
He assured the VC AIOU of his maximum support and cooperation in extending the educational network of the AIOU in the GB.
