A three day International Urdu Conference was organized by the National Language Promotion Department in accordance with “Independence day”. Three sessions were held on the first day of the conference.
Chief guest at the opening ceremony was Federal Minister Shafqat Mehmood whereas it was presided over by Prof Fateh Muhammad Malik, Kishwar Naheed and Iftikhar Arif.
Director General of NLPD Dr Rashid Hameed conducted the proceedings on the occasion.
Federal Minister Shafqat Mehmood appreciated the holding of the conference and stressed the promotion and implementation of the National Language.
He informed that the medium of instruction for the new uniform curriculum which is due to be implemented from class one to five in the next “Educational Year” will be Urdu.
The provinces will also have the choice to use their own mother language along with Urdu, according to the provision provided in the constitution.
