Unified system to record urban properties

Punjab Minister for Revenue, Malik Muhammad Anwar said that the incumbent government has decided to move in the direction of a unified and formal system to record the urban properties which would ensure protection of individual rights and issuance of certified copies in favour of an individual. He stated this while talking to a World Bank Technical Support Mission for Digitization of Urban Land Records System headed by Dr Mika-Petteri while called on Thursday. Malik Anwar said that the new system will help creating clear distinction between rural and urban properties. He briefed the mission that the proposed Land Records Management and Information System – Urban Phase would include components for a Digital Cadastral Map, Data Improvement in Urban Areas, Unified Land Records Management Information System and Project Management and Policy Development. The Provincial Minister stressed that creation of a Digital Urban Land Records holds great promise to furthering gover nment’s agenda of Ease of Doing Business, Efficient Service Delivery and Improvement in Credit & Land Markets in province.—INP
