President of Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) Sardar Masood Khan has reiterated call for immediate opening of a human corridor in the Indian Held Kashmir (IHK) under the UN supervision, to save lives of 8 million people of the occupied valley and to provide foodstuffs and life-saving drugs to the besieged population.
Addressing a seminar on “Kashmir: Heaven in Ashes” organized by the Center for Global & Strategic Studies here Thursday, the AJK president stressed the UN Security Council to immediately intervene to prevent the ethnic cleansing of Kashmiri people and to resolve the Kashmir conflict in accordance with its own resolutions as well as international laws.
Chairman Kashmir Committee, Syed Fakhar Imam, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) Gen Zubair Mahmood Hayat, former law minister Ahmer Bilal Soofi, defence analyst Lt Gen (R) Amjad Shoaib, Bishop of Pakistan Rev Nazir Alam , Ambassador Abdul Basit, Abdullah Hameed Gul and other speakers and experts also spoke on the occasion and drew the world attention to the plight of the Kashmiris.
Sardar Masood Khan regretted that international community was constantly ignoring the Indian repression, usurpation of basic human rights and complete media blackout in occupied Kashmir. This had encouraged Indian fanatic rulers to further play with the lives of hundreds of thousands of Kashmiri people.
Syed Fakhar Imam said the Indians betrayed in the case of Kashmir. Injustice prevailed in Kashmir. “We the people of Pakistan must fight for Kashmir unless the issue is resolved.”
Gen Zubair Mahmood Hayat was of the view that Pakistan had always showed willingness to initiate dialogue with India but New Delhi responded with aggression. The CJCSC said that Pakistan will never fall prey to India’s heinous designs, and will always response in a befitting manner. He said that Pakistan and India have fought four wars on Kashmir, which is a reflective of how important is to resolve the longstanding Kashmir issue for regional peace and stability. He said that Kashmir lies at the heart of all issues of South Asia.
The CJCSC said that the importance of rule of law, justice, freedom, liberty, human rights and human dignity are taught at the international level as core requirements but unfortunately today what is going on in the Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) defies all basic norms and values.
