UMT holds 3-day int’l conference on liberal arts

The University of Management and Technology (UMT) School of Liberal Arts organized a three-day international conference themed “Peripheral Epistemologies: Voicing the Unvoiced,” aims to illuminate the literary and linguistic representation of marginalized epistemologies in Pakistan while fostering inclusive academic dialogues.

The conference was arranged in collaboration with the Pakistan Academy of Letters, Oxford University Press, the Digital Folk Wisdom Project, and Alkitaab. This event underscores a collective effort to elevate diverse narratives and promote scholarly exchange.
More than 60 research papers were presented at the conference. Panel discussions were also arranged to find solutions to challenges concerning the liberal arts.

Director General, Pakistan Academy of Letters, Mr. Sultan M. Nawaz Nasir, participated as a chief guest from Islamabad.
Key speakers at the conference include Dr. Claire Pamment and Dr. Salah Hassan from the USA, alongside notable national speakers like Ms. Muneeza Shamsie, Prof. Dr. Safeer Awan, Dr. Munazza Yaqoob, Prof. Dr. Taimoor Kayani, Dr. Muhammad Hassan Zafar, Dr. Muhammad Sheeraz Dasti, Dr. Muhammad Abdullah, and Dr. Sonia Irum, representing diverse perspectives from both international and local contexts.
