University of Education, Lahore organized a unusual seminar on World Education Day at main Campus on January 24, 2023, which was presided over by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Talat Nasir Pasha (S.I.) while Chairman Punjab Higher Education Commission Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir was the chief guest. Other guests were included Chief Executive Officer Punjab Examination Commission Tariq Iqbal, Director General National Academy of Police Authority Azhar Rashid and others. In the seminar a special message was read by Dr. Charles Hopkins, Chair of Reorienting Education towards Sustainable Development, UNESCO, in which he urged world leaders to invest in education on the occasion of World Education Day.
Addressing the ceremony, Professor Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.) said that education is not just the name of teaching, but a process through which an individual or a nation gains self-awareness, education gives a person the awareness to live. And it creates a sense of the goals and duties of life, through education a nation conveys its cultural, mental and intellectual heritage to future generations. He also said that education gives man the status of crown of creation, and this is the reason why the importance of education is evident everywhere from religion to the world. Islam has declared the acquisition of knowledge as a duty and on the other hand a few developed countries are ruling the entire world. Chairman Punjab Higher Education Commission Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir said in his address that when Pakistan came into being, we got such an education system of foreigners, which was not compatible with our ground realities, due to which our country is still in the list of under develop countries.
