ABU DHBAI – The UAE’s Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) has introduced new changes to make the process more efficient and customer-friendly for issuances of passport, Emirates ID and residency permits.
It has eliminated various steps to single step for issuance of passport and its renewal services for UAE nationals while the process for Emirates ID and residency permits for expatriates, including Pakistanis, has also been reduced to one step.
The measures have been taken to streamline the process under UAE’s Zero Government Bureaucracy initiative, officials said.
Authorities have abolished several fields from the application process. For service regarding passport, four out of ten required fields have been eliminated while six fields have been removed for the process regarding ID card and residence permit.
With the updated system, all fields are automatically filled when the customer’s last registered address is entered.
Now, the customers are no longer required to provide photo for passport services while those applying for Emirates ID and residence permit are not required to provide passport attachment, the summary of registration for citizens and personal photo.
The system retrieves the data and photos of the customers automatically while there is an option to change the photo.
In the renewal process, the requirement for a passport loss circular document has been replaced by an electronic circular. Furthermore, the system will get the health insurance document for residents through online system.
The authority has also launched various channels for online payment such as Apple Pay and Google Pay, reducing the payment entry fields.
