Transgender community has declared its intention to actively partici-pate in the upcoming general elections. During a press conference at the Karachi Press Club, prominent community representatives, in-cluding BindiaRana, DrMeerebAwan, and ShehzadiRai, shared their plans. As part of their advocacy for basic rights, the transgender community leaders have organised the MooratMarch, set to take place at Frere Hall in Karachi on November 19.

The transgender march aims to draw attention to pressing issues such as the right to inheritance and the alarming rates of violence against trans individuals, often jus-tified in the name of honor.

During the press conference, ShehzadiRai shed light on the pervasive violence faced by transgender individuals and emphasized the urgent need to address the lack of job opportuni-ties.

The community leaders called for an end to discriminatory poli-cies and demanded the government’s commitment to inclusivity and equal rights. Expressing disappointment with the Sindh government, the transgender community leaders called out its failure to fulfill the promised job quotas for trans individuals.

BindiaRana specifically highlighted the National Database and Registration Authority (NA-DRA)’s cessation of issuing X identity cards, raising concerns about the community’s documentation and recognition. Meanwhile, DrMeereb provided details about the Moorat March, urging widespread participation.

The march is scheduled to take place from 3 pm to 6 pm on November 19 at Frere Hall, Karachi. Community leaders hope that the event will serve as a platform for raising awareness and garnering support for the transgender community’s quest for equal rights.
