The police have detained over 91 teachers and other government employees for protesting from outside Lahore Secretariat on Thursday.
In a recent operation, the police detained a total of 91 individuals, who were subsequently shifted to various police stations.
The police had earlier lodged an FIR against the teachers and inserted certain sections of the law to screw the protesting teachers.
The protest’s organizers had remained conspicuously absent throughout the night, prompting the police to begin compiling information at a local hotel.
With the recent apprehension of other leaders, a number of cases are expected to be filed at different police stations tonight.
Besides it, the police initiated a location tracking process for the participants by utilizing their mobile phone data.
According to the police, anyone who came under their surveillance would be subject to arrest. Female participants of the protest had not been spared, as they too had been taken into custody.
Regarding the government employees involved in the protest, whose ranks range from Grade 1 to Grade 18, it remained uncertain as to which police stations they have been assigned.
According to the sources, the police operation was initiated overnight, following directives from senior police officials.
Several police stations in Lahore actively participated in this operation, and oversight of the operation against the protesters continued throughout the morning, led by three Superintendents of Police (SPs).
On other hand, the teachers announced to intensify their protests, making it clear that they would continue their sit-in and protest until their colleagues taken into custody were released.
They also shared footage and pictures of the police contingents approaching them. They also strongly criticized the caretaker Punjab government for taking action against the teachers’ leaders.
In their messages, the teachers also asked their colleagues to stay strong and continue their protests for their demands.
