On the directions of worthy Chairman FBR and as part of FBR’s intensive drive to spread awareness about the importance of filing of income tax returns and to maximise tax compliance, a team of Public Relations Wing held a Seminar at Comsats University, Islamabad on Wednesday. Faculty members and students of the university also attended the seminar. The seminar is a series of various activities being conducted by FBR to raise awareness about filing returns. It is pertinent to mention that Public Relations Wing has signed a number of MoUs with various academic institutions in order to raise awareness among the youth about matters of taxation and return filing. Furthermore، as a result of the efforts of FBR’s PR Wing, Comsats University is the first academic institution in Pakistan to introduce courses on taxation and auditing.

During the seminar, Secretary Tax Education Mr. Alam Zaib Khan gave a comprehensive presentation on various aspects of taxation including income tax, sales tax, federal excise duty and custom duties. He reiterated FBR’s resolve to further enhance revenue generation by encouraging eligible taxpayers to file their returns. It is also pointed out that Comsats University has more than 3000 faculty members in all its campuses across the country and holding of such seminars will contribute to increasing the rate of return filing. The presentation was followed by question and answer session in which students participated enthusiastically.
