Punjab Finance Minister Makhdoom Hashim Jawan Bakht has said that sub-national governance program will be utilized for the elimination of corruption as well as ensuring transparency in Local Government Department, Municipal Corporation and property tax sector.
Speaking during a meeting with a team of sub-national governance program at PRA office on Tuesday, he said that long term and short term programs will be formulated for achieving reforms agenda.
Makhdoom Hashim Jawan said that the government is contemplating to revise the drafting of PC-1 adding that financial management, business planning and identification of timeline at every step are more important than the number of class-IV employees associated with the drafting of PC-1. Adoption of a suitable mechanism and promotion of automatic system will help to eliminate corruption in government sector, he maintained.
He appreciated the services of SNG program for tax reforms and budget drafting and stressed the need of consulting sub-national governance program for promoting public-private partnership and launch of e-procurement for the elimination of corruption in public sector procurement.
The Finance Minister desired that sub-national governance program should keep an eye on steps being taken at international level for administrative reforms in the province so that positive changes could be brought in the public sector governance project-II Director of sub-national governance program.
Majeeb Saiduzai apprised the minister about the details of the program and said that working team has been identified in Punjab. Similarly, steering committee will be constituted for guiding at the provincial level in future and participation of stakeholders will be ensured. Forum will also be constituted for contacting the donors, he added.
