Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Nadeem Aslam Chaudhary paid a one-day surprise visit to Swat district on Thursday. During the visit, the Chief Secretary inspected the flood-hit roads and markets. Talking to media persons on the occasion, he said that necessary measures were being taken on an emergency basis for restoration of Bahrain Bazaar Road. “To witness the difficulties faced by people, I am personally visiting the area to assess the damage caused by the floods,” he added. The Chief Secretary further said that line departments were busy in restoration of road infrastructure with the help of heavy machinery at different points in the affected areas. In response to a query, he clarified that until winter season it was not possible to divert Swat River due to high water flow at this point of time, however, urgent restoration work would be accelerated.
