KARACHI – Solar Prices in Pakistan are likely to increase amid increase in demand and low imports. Those familiar with Market trends predicted that solar panel prices may either stabilize or rise in the coming months due to drop in import volumes.
A recent report indicated that price of solar products plunged, prompting increased imports as consumers shift towards renewable energy.
In recent months, solar panel imports moved down from record imports in April. The trend of declining imports continued, with August figures hovering over 1100 MW. This sharp decline is primarily attributed to shipment delays and logistical challenges, leading to a preservation of the existing stock of solar panels.
As the exact amount of increase can not be specified, dwindling inventory levels could eventually lead to higher prices. Earlier this year, a significant drop in solar panel prices led to increased imports from residential, commercial, and industrial users, who viewed solar energy as a buffer against rising electricity costs.
It was reported that current supply may only last for few months. Consumers awaiting additional price drops may face more expensive or delayed future purchases due to inventory shortages.
