KARACHI – The Sindh Food Authority (SFA) has labeled as many as 11 packaged snacks of a company “unfit” for human consumption after they failed the quality tests.

The SFA has sent a letter the company, directing it to recall complete stock of the 11 snacks from the market to ensure the public health.

The letter revealed that the company had submitted samples of 24 products for registration in March this year. The samples were examined at the Food Testing Laboratory of the University of Karachi’s Department of Food Science and Technology. The results of the testing were prepared on April 19.

Out of total samples, 11 products failed to meet the required safety and quality standards.

The products, which failed the quality tests, included Slanty Vegetable, Snackers Hot Masala, Snackers Pizza, Twitch Classic, Potato Sticks, Cheese Ball Masala, Cheese Balls Cheese, Kai Korean Hot, Kai Spicy Mala, Kai Mala Wok, and Kai Korean Kimchi, local media reported.

SFA has ordered the company to immediately withdraw the “affected products from the market, cease production and sale, and provide detailed information on the stock’s location and quantity to the SFA within three days”.

“If the company feels aggrieved by this order, it may seek a remedy by appealing to the SFA Board within one week,” the letter said.

The company is yet to issue its response in this regard.  It will be shared as it is released by the company.
